Spring Car Maintenance Checklist
Spring has arrived. It’s time to get that spring cleaning started, and with that it is also a smart idea to do some spring maintenance on your car. Here is our Spring Car Maintenance Checklist to help you be prepared for the upcoming months.
Spring Car Maintenance Checklist:
1) Check your tire pressure.
Temperature variations are common with changes of season and can cause your tires to lose pressure. Improperly inflated tires don’t perform as well. Also, it may be time to rotate your tires.
2) Monitor the tread on your tires.
If they are worn, it’s time to replace your tires before the rains of summer come and cause reduced traction.
3) Check your windshield wipers.
The cold temperatures of winter can cause the blades to lose their effectiveness. If you need new blades, you might opt for blades optimized for summer conditions.
4) Check your oil.
Has it been over 3,000 miles since your last oil change? Then it’s probably best just to do an oil and lube. The heat caused by summer driving is unkind to oils.
5) Do you need to replace any belts or hoses?
Look for cracks, swelling, fraying or leakage. If something looks borderline, it’s most likely time to replace them.
6) Evaluate your battery.
Summer can be tougher on your battery than winter.
7) Check your engine coolant.
Make sure the level and condition is good. You may need to add coolant or have a flush-and-fill performed. Don’t try to make it through summer without proper coolant maintenance. It is a recipe for a vehicle breakdown.
8) Test your air conditioning system.
If it’s not providing enough cool air, it may be time to have some maintenance done on the system. it’s better to fix this in the spring before the summer heat arrives.
